My name is Irene Chen. I am the eldest daughter of A-Yuan Lee. On behalf of my entire family, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone for taking the time out of your busy schedule to attend. Thank you Pastor Phillip Lee for leading the memorial service for my mother. My dearest mother was born on January 11, 1928. At the age of 97, she was called by the Lord in her sleep on June 11, 2025. She had two sisters, one brother, and was the youngest of four children. In the era when sons were valued more than daughters, the three sisters were given away to different families. My mother was adopted into a large family. Her adoptive parents had three sons and eight daughters of their own. My mother was smart, neat, considerate, and well loved by her adoptive parents. My mother grew up around the time of World War II. During the era of Japanese occupation in Taiwan, unmarried women were mandated to be sent to the military to work as nurses.
